I am a wife and mother of one. I have lived in the same Chicago suburb with my friends and fellow incompetent housewives for 23 years. I work part time teaching economics and fill the rest of my time writing, knitting, painting, playing bridge, reading, antiquing, and walking my dog. I cook and clean as little as I can get away with.
My name is Julie Gilbert. I was actually looking up my grandmother, Fannie Ferber Fox’s cookbook when I came across your strange piece on “Joe”–who supposedly was Edna Ferber’s nephew. He was not, I can tell you for a fact. My mother was Janet Fox and my great aunt was Edna Ferber. I wrote a biography of my great aunt which Doubleday published in 1978 and later was brought out in paperback by Applause Books, which is still in print. In it, I write all about the Hollanders and Ferber’s role on their behalf.
It’s fascinating how the tentacles reach out across the internet, isn’t it? I just wanted to make sure you knew that this Joe was very imaginative to say the least.
Thanks, Julie. What I can’t believe is that two different relatives found my little post (You and Carolyn Hollander)! Now I wonder more than ever who Joe really was. Thanks for contacting me.
Because you make me laugh like nobody else can, I have nominated you for a blogger award. Congratulations!
See my recent blog post for more details…..
Well thank you, I’ll check it out!
